Bill Jackson.

Bill Jackson has won many international awards for his work in recent years. He is the first photographer, as far as records show, to receive three RPS International Print Awards. His work has been hung in many exhibitions world wide including The National Portrait Gallery, The Photographers Gallery (London), The Brno Museum (Prague) and the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Argentina.

Bill Jackson was born in 1953 in the West Midlands somewhere near Wolverhampton. His mother, Gigiola Truferelli, came to England from Italy after the Second World War and his grandparents, Fernando Truferelli and Maria Persi-Proietti were noted artisans in Perugia. He graduated from Coventry School of Art and Birmingham University and taught photography, film and multi media in various art schools in the UK until 2005. An important part of his teaching was his work as an artist. In 1986 he moved away from film based materials to explore ideas in video and electronic media and was one of the first of the British photographers at the time to do so. That work was shown at the National Museum of Photography in Bradford in 1991, as part of a symposium on the future of photography in the digital age, hosted by Colin Ford, Zelda Cheatle and Paul Hill.

Having left London, he now lives in Suffolk, where he has his 'Studio of Light' a converted C17th dairy near the coast.  He works only with the transient nature of daylight or moonlight. The dairy also hosts his print studio where he works with the latest archival wide format printing facilities.  A lover of hybrid technologies he works across both the digital and analogue worlds.  When nolt working on his own projects he helps other artists and photographers realise theirs.  To this end he is often asked to print whole exhibitions and editions.  Artists include Simon Head, Richard Denyer, Judy Goldhill, Hin Chin, Phoebe Rudomino, Lesley Davy, David Dodsworth, Neville Sattentau, The White Room Gallery, Clive Sheridan, Roswitha Gerlitz, Catherine Shakespeare Lane, Richard Sadler and Thomas Yeomans Art.
