FANNY JACOB

Fanny.jpg

My name is Fanny Jacob and I'm a textile artist living and working in rural Suffolk. Born in London, I initially trained as a State Registered Nurse at St Bartholomew's Hospital before moving to the London College of Fashion where I studied pattern cutting and knitwear design. I now enjoy working from my studio on the beautiful Wilford Peninsula on the Suffolk Coast, designing and creating unique pieces to wear and for the home. I am also a Creative Arts Coordinator in a Suffolk prison, encouraging residents to get involved in a wide range of creative arts.

STEPHEN CLOVER

STEPHEN CLOVER.png

In practice as a Chartered Surveyor land agent, I began teaching myself ceramics in 1982.  I bought a kiln, then taught myself to weld and later built a small, backyard gas-fired foundry.  Studying sculptural ceramics, I received my MA from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, last September.

I have been amused by recent events involving the 'Gormleys', exhibited on Aldeburgh beach, which have provided compelling entertainment for a national audience in lockdown.  Perhaps inspired by the spirit of Marcel Duchamp, the horizontal placement of four manufactured bollards has clearly caused an intensification of experience which even Sir Antony Gormley himself may now be applauding.  An additional, happy corollary has been that gentlest of ripostes to the planning spat in Aldeburgh's Conservation Area - the brilliant production of The Angel of the East.

NICK NICHOLSON

NICHOLSON.png

Nick has been drawing and painting since he could pick up a pencil and is still captivated by that same childlike wonder when observing nature. Nick is a water-colour specialist but combines this with other media to explore nature, landscape and the areas where science, philosophy and ancient wisdom meet. his interest in plant forms and nature's universal patterns is evident in his deep, contrasting tones and fascination with the drama of dazzling light and deep shadow. Nick's other passion as a musician, from an earlier career, compliments and informs his painting, along with the inspiration of coastal Suffolk's unique landscapes.

JIM NIND, BOOGIE AND BEYOND

'Hi Folks, having started the year with the need to postpone several exhibitions I'm glad to open up with Boogie and Beyond at 142 gallery, Felixstowe, from 13th-19th May. The exhibition features a strand of work emerging through a lockdown and inspired by my interest in the later work of Mondrian. It feels great to have the opportunity to exhibit again and meet so many of you who have shown a developing interest in my work.'
