The Arts Club Aldeburgh Beach merges elements of the Chelsea Arts Club and Gertrude Stein’s art salon

Our 280 or so members are amongst the most exciting and influential arts people in Suffolk

Reminder! Tomorrow, Saturday 27th November,

12:00 - 5:00 pm at the Art House

We are celebrating 9 years of the Arts Club Aldeburgh Beach. Join us for food and drinks. This is a chance to see our Christmas exhibition which includes many works by members of the Arts Club Aldeburgh Beach. At 2:00 pm we will be unveiling the plaque, carved into York stone by Charlotte Howarth of the Lettering Arts Trust. Positioned on the Lookout, the plaque is dedicated to three people who have been important to the history of the Lookout: Sir Laurens van der Post, Davis Blix Andren, and Francis Carnwath CBE.

Timothy Sawyer Shepard, the winner of the Francis Carnwath Prize for the Arts, projects the Lookout Line, his global sculpture in space and time onto and inside the Lookout.

The party coincides with the Aldeburgh Christmas Festivities from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Christmas lights will be switched on at 4:00 pm.

At this party of the Arts Club, we celebrate Yalda. Yalda is an Iranian winter solstice festival celebrated on the longest and darkest night of the year. It is a time when friends and family gather together to eat, drink, and read poetry, especially Hafez. Fruit, nuts, pomegranates, and watermelons are particularly significant because their red color symbolizes the crimson hues of dawn and the glow of life.
